Hayes Girling Financial September Newsletter

Welcome To The Hayes Girling Financial Spring Newsletter

As you would all now be aware Barry Hayes has announced his retirement and whilst he is still in the office he is winding down and starting to enjoy more time at home with his wife Merrilyn and his family including the three grandchildren he is doting on.

We’d like to take this chance to congratulate Baz again on a wonderfully successful career and in particular his work done with Barry Hayes and Assoc, Hayes Marshall and now Hayes Girling.

Whilst some of our people have changed over time, our values and commitment to helping people with their financial and tax needs have not. We continue to build on Barry’s long-term family values and strive to ensure our clients are placed in a better situation after working with us.

Everyone by now would have seen the Royal Commission into the Superannuation and Banking industries.

There have been some terrible details emerge from Commissioner Hayne’s queries and it is heartbreaking to hear how many Australians have been negatively impacted by poor advice.

At Hayes Girling, we are proud to be recognised for the long-term quality of our advice. Our view is that if we provide you with a service, you should be charged only for that service, regardless of your means or other circumstances.

Between April to August Hayes Girling Financial presented a 4-part series aimed at helping those in small business grow and thrive. We covered a range of topics including, company structures, business plans, tax 101, insurance, outsourcing, HR, sales and much more.

We received great feedback from those who attended with comments such as:

“Excellent advice and information, I was a total stranger to running a small business, it’s really given me ideas on how to run one”

“Very informative, it’s assisted me with my new business”

We will be launching another series in the new year, so keep your eyes out for updates as they arise.

On the 20th September 2018, we will be running our second session, focussing on how to structure your assets, the importance of super, receiving payouts from employers and how to deal with debt when nearing retirement.

ATO Update

The ATO is expanding their data-matching program by obtaining information from the rental bond authority back to 1985, to identify taxpayers who may not have declared rental income or a capital gains tax event on properties they’ve owned.

They are also collecting information from sites such as Airbnb to identify taxpayers who may not be declaring their income from the sharing economy in accommodation, back to 2017.

If you think this may have an impact on you, please contact one of our accountants to discuss further.

On July the 31st we held a surprise retirement party at the Mulgrave Country Club in honour of Barry’s incredible career.

It was a fantastic night surrounded by clients, colleagues from throughout the network, employees, both past and present and of course, friends and family.

Again, we would like to thank all those who attended and kept the party a secret, Barry was clearly blown away by the night.
